Fixed price or hourly rate? What's actually fair for furniture assembly

2026-01-15

What is the problem with hourly rates?

An hourly rate of €40–50 rewards working slowly: the longer it takes, the more the fitter earns. And you cannot know the total in advance — the same 3-frame PAX can take 2.5 hours or 5.

Add to that the uncertainty: a 3-frame PAX can be done in 2.5 or 5 hours depending on the fitter's experience, the complexity of the build and the condition of the apartment. As a customer, you don't know what you'll pay.

Why are fixed prices fairer?

Because we carry the time risk, not you. Our prices start at €89 and are agreed before the appointment. If the job takes longer than planned, that is our problem — the price does not move.

The price you see is the price you pay.

When does a fixed price not work?

For genuinely unclear projects — custom built-ins without standard dimensions, for example — a fixed price cannot be quoted responsibly in advance. In those cases we recommend a short site visit of about 20 minutes before booking.

For all PAX configurations: our calculator produces a binding price in 60 seconds.
