Moving to Berlin: Getting Your Furniture Assembled After the Move

Why is reassembly harder than first assembly?

At the first build, every screw sits numbered in the carton. After a move, exactly that is missing: manuals were thrown out, fittings are somewhere in a box labelled "misc", and the dowel joints are worn from disassembly. Moving companies take furniture apart, but rarely rebuild it — and when they do, they do not realign the doors.

How does moving-in assembly work?

We arrive with spare fittings, cam locks and wooden dowels. We rebuild disassembled furniture without the original manual — we know the connector systems of the major manufacturers from over 500 assemblies. Doors and drawers are realigned in the process, dressers and wardrobes secured to the wall. On request we assemble the new pieces bought for the new flat in the same visit.

What does moving-in assembly cost?

A bed from €59, a wardrobe from €99, a complete one-bedroom flat from €299 — fixed prices, travel included. Ideally book as soon as your moving date is set: depending on capacity we assemble same-day or next-day, Saturdays included. That way you spend the second night in an assembled bed instead of on a mattress on the floor.

Do you speak English?

Yes, entirely and at no extra cost: enquiry, confirmation, assembly and invoice all run in English. Around a third of our moving-in customers have just arrived in Berlin and do not (yet) speak German. We know the Berlin quirks no relocation guide mentions: fifth-floor Altbau walk-ups, resident parking zones, rear-courtyard access.

In what order should you assemble?

1. Bed first — the first night decides the mood of the whole week.

2. Wardrobe second, so the boxes of clothes get emptied.

3. Shelving and wall mounting last, once it is clear what goes where.
