BESTÅ is IKEA's most flexible system – and the one with the most assembly pitfalls. We build TV benches, media walls and floating configurations, mount the suspension rails securely and set up push-to-open fittings properly.
What matters with BESTÅ
Floating BESTÅ installation stands or falls with the suspension rail: it carries the entire weight including contents and must be anchored in the wall, not just the plaster. In Berlin Altbau walls (hollow brick, clay plaster) the supplied screws will not hold – we use injection anchors or heavy-duty fixings matched to the wall type. Then come the details: hinges and push-to-open only work with precisely aligned fronts, plinths must be levelled individually on plank floors, and on multi-unit walls the first rail decides the alignment of the entire run.
